Kleen Sweep isn’t the only floor sweep product available on the market. In fact, there are many other floor sweep products out there.
This is both a good thing and a bad thing.
It’s good because competition always brings out the best out of manufacturers. However, it’s bad because choosing one won’t be easy.
Thankfully, we’re here to help.
We’ve taken the liberty of removing the guesswork from choosing the best spill solution by comparing the four most common floor sweep products on the market.
1. Peat Moss
Peat moss is considered “better” than clay-based absorbents and kitty litter on the account that you won’t need as much to clean up spills. However, it’s still not ideal because it leaves plenty of residue to clean up after the spill.
Peat moss also isn’t that cheap. It has to be collected from peat bogs. These are located mainly in Canada and Ireland, so importation can prove costly.
On the plus side, it’s a renewable product. Although it’s still not 100% environmentally friendly since it has to be mined from the ground.
Finally, one of the biggest problems with peat moss is that it tends to leave a lot of dust. You’ll want to wear a respirator before using it to clean up a spill.
2. Kitty Litter and Clay-Based Absorbents
Kitty litter is an inexpensive and practical spill absorbent. That’s why it’s arguably the most common spill absorbent product used in warehouses and facilities. However, it’s far from perfect.
For one, the amount of time and effort, as well as the actual amount of kitty litter and clay spent to clean up spills, pretty much negate the low cost.
Kitty litter and clay-based absorbents are not renewable and therefore not environmentally friendly.
Plus, because they’re not as effective, the risk of oil spill runoff is extremely high.
3. Sawdust
Sawdust is a surprisingly popular absorbent product. Surprising, because it’s not even as effective as kitty litter as a spill solution. It leaves plenty of residue and makes clean-up even worse.
Also, because you’ll need to use lots of sawdust to clean up even the smallest spill, the cost of this “inexpensive” absorbent can add up quite quickly. Not to mention, the risk of runoff and residue is even higher compared to kitty litter and peat moss.
Sawdust also isn’t environmentally friendly, sustainable, nor renewable.
4. Kleen Sweep
Kleen Sweep is the ideal floor sweep product.
For starters, this floor sweep product is made from renewable and biodegradable cotton by-products.
That’s not all. It’s also very effective.
This floor sweep product can absorb as much as ten times more fluid than kitty litter. This drastically reduces clean-up time by absorbing spills immediately and removing the need to remove any residue.
You also won’t need as much of this floor sweep product, so you’ll be saving a lot of money. And the entire facility, in general, will be more productive.
Just be careful not to use too much of this floor sweep product. Because it’s a powder, there’s some risk of windy conditions blowing it away. You’ll want to use only the exact amounts of Kleen Sweep when cleaning up spills to minimise the risks of the powder being blown away.
